Course Overview

Mentoring

This COMENSA (who are the SAQA registered Professional Body for coaches and mentors in South Africa) registered Mentoring course will guide you through the phases in the mentoring cycle, from where you decide to be a mentor, to finding the right mentee, to setting up the paperwork, deciding on goals, getting commitment from the mentee, right to wrapping up the mentoring relationship at the end of the agreed period.

Becoming a mentor is a great privilege. You get the opportunity to allow another person to see the hope within themselves. There is a specific way in which you as a mentor can impart this wisdom so that your mentee can benefit and learn optimally from your examples. Remember, you do not have to be employed by an organisation to become involved in mentoring. Mentoring also sports teams, hobby clubs (like a chess club, or sailing club or crafts club), churches, schools, colleges and more.

The course covers the following modules:
1. Mentoring as a concept
2. Responsibilities for Mentors and Mentees
3. Setting up formal mentoring
4. Helping mentees learn
5. Wrapping up the mentorship programmes and relationships
