Course Overview
AT(SA) is a competency-based accountancy qualification and membership designation offered by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), the foremost accountancy institute in South Africa. The Further Education and Training Certificate in Accounting is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to excel as accounting technicians.
Graduates of this programme will be proficient in preparing final accounts, grasping the principles of cash management and costing, and providing accurate cost and revenue information.

Course Material
The course fees include comprehensive textbooks (electronic and print) which include exercises and review questions. Students also have access to the atMyConnect portal for revision tests.
Assessment and Award
Modules of learning within this qualification are assessed using computer-based assessments which test students’ ability to apply newly acquired skills and competencies in the work environment. Each Module will be assessed through an online exam offered at an accredited examinations centre. Examination fees included (first attempt only, thereafter re-write fees apply)
Students who have successfully completed and passed all study Modules will be awarded the Further Education and Training Certificate: Accounting Technician (SAQA 77143, NQF level 4, 120 credits) awarded by the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET). To ensure ongoing professional development, this qualification leads to Accounting Technician membership of SAICA.
Entry Requirements
- No experience in accounting, did not have accounting at school. Start at: AT(SA) Level 3
- Accounting Gr 12: Start at: AT(SA) Level 4
- Work experience in accounting: Start at: AT(SA) Level 4
- Extensive work experience in accounting and wants to complete AT (SA) Level 5 – Diagnostic assessment
