Course Description:

This National Qualification is accredited by FASSET and assessed through ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers). You will learn how to complete the monthly trial balance, reconcile supplier statements, inventory systems and bank statements. You will also learn how to calculate PAYE, SDL and UIF remuneration, monthly EMP201 returns, annual EMP501, IRP5, IRP6 and IT3a documents as well as VAT 201 returns. This programme will provide the skills required to be an Accounts Clerk, Debtors Clerk, and Payroll Clerk.

Students taking this course do not require prior knowledge of accounting.
Assessments
Using the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) programme material, 30% of your final mark is derived from the activities you complete during your distance learning course. Upon registering for your assessment, you will receive a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) folder, in which must be included all tests and assignments for each module. Each module also requires a written exam, contributing 70% to your final mark. This exam, along with your POE, must be submitted to ICB. Assessment Centres are available throughout South Africa; visit www.icb.org to find the nearest exam venue. You will need to register as a Student Member with the ICB and enroll for the exam before the prescribed closing dates published by ICB.
