This bookkeeping and accounting course introduces essential bookkeeping terminologies and concepts, laying a solid foundation for your training. Upon completing this distance learning program, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of Value Added Tax (VAT) within South Africa’s regulatory framework. You’ll also develop practical knowledge of journals, general ledgers, and trial balances. Additionally, you’ll become proficient in handling cash journals, debtors, and creditors accounts, mastering the necessary reconciliations in bookkeeping. Students taking this course must have completed ICB Business Literacy.
Assessments
Using the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) programme material, 30% of your final mark is derived from the activities you complete during your distance learning course. Upon registering for your assessment, you will receive a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) folder, in which must be included all tests and assignments for each module. Each module also requires a written exam, contributing 70% to your final mark. This exam, along with your POE, must be submitted to ICB. Assessment Centres are available throughout South Africa; visit www.icb.org to find the nearest exam venue. You will need to register as a Student Member with the ICB and enroll for the exam before the prescribed closing dates published by ICB.
